Editor's Note: I've been meeting with Think Tank Photo and have been very impressed with their entire line of professional quality cases and bags. So much so, in fact, that I've brought them on as a sponsor for The Digital Story. Right away, they put together a special TDS landing page on their site that you can access through the sponsor tile on this page, or through this link (with special benefits). To help us all become familiar with their offerings, I'll test and review various Think Tank bags and cases. The Airport International V2.0 is the first in this series of mini-reviews.
The Think Tank Airport International V2.0 is designed to hold lots of equipment, yet fit easily in international and domestic flight carry-on spaces so you can always keep your gear within sight. This 11 lb. roller measures 14" W x 8" D by 21" H, and is designed to hold a maximum amount of equipment in this relatively compact space. Its overall feature set is fairly extensive.
- Inernational carry-on size.
- TSA security combination lock.
- Front cable and lock secures laptops.
- Back cable and lock secures to fixed object.
- Security plate with unique serial number.
- Holds up to a 500mm lens.
- Optional 15" or 17" laptop case.
- Optional "low divider" set.
- Interior organizer.
- Replaceable wheels.
- Front stretch pocket.
- Front organizational pocket.
- Business card holder.
- Bottom handle.
One of the things I really like about this bag is that it looks like regular luggage instead of a camera bag stuffed with expensive equipment. Yet, if I have to step away from the bag for a few minutes, I just pull the cable lock out of the back of the luggage and connect it to pole or anything else secure.
The front combination lock that keeps the bag closed and can be opened with a TSA key, so security folks won't rip open your luggage, but prying eyes are kept out.
The extending handle is long enough for the tallest of travelers (I know personally!), and the wheels roll smoothly on most surfaces. If you want to carry your laptop also, then make sure you get the optional low divider set that leaves space for a laptop sleeve inside the Airport International or in the front stretch pocket. The included rain cover fits nicely in the side stretch pocket where it's always available if the weather changes quickly.

I have the Airport International packed with the following equipment: Canon 5D body, Canon 5D Mark ll body, 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, 16-35mm f/2.8 lens, 85mm f/1.8 lens, 50mm f/1.4 lens, 75-300mm zoom lens, two strobes, flash bracket, batteries, memory cards, cables, filters, and more. Everything fits snugly and packs well.
You can order the Airport International V2.0 for $329 via the TDS affiliate link. By doing so, you're eligible to add a free additional case from a nice selection, such as the Lens Changer 50 that sells for $27.95.

Think tank has some interesting bags- and their Airport bags seem to fit a real niche if you fly alot. But for day to day photography I have yet to see a better bag than domkes line-

These bags fit more- are easier to carry and IMHO, more rugged. And they cost less!
