"My New Favorite Camera Bag" - Digital Photography Podcast 293

A good camera bag is the photographer's home away from home. These days, it often contains your shooting gear, a laptop or tablet, and a few personal items. If you're in an urban setting, it's good to be discrete and blend in with the crowd. Yet, styling is important, as is weather protection. And none of this is any good unless it's comfortable over the long haul.

DSLR Video Fastpack 250 AW with Quick Access Open

For those reasons, my new favorite camera bag for day-to-day use is the new Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack. In this week's show, I talk about camera bag attributes that I like, and why this new backpack fits the bill so well.

If we're talking bags - here's a question ;)

Weekend treks, trips into the woods with the kids for a campfire/hotdogs etc.

I've looked at the pro trekker range - but they're too photo focused for a long weekend trip. I need a normal full rucksack - and I'd like to have the photo gear protected when it's inside.

For my laptop I can get a neoprene sleeve.

So I'm looking for something to take the body with 24-70, maybe a couple of lenses and keep them safe when thrown in the back of a weekend backpack.

Right now they're going in a plastic carrier (to keep them clean and dry) but that gives no protection from other stuff in the bag.

I'm not convinced that what I want is out there - but if anyone's heard of anything suitable ...... ;)

I suspect it'll be hard to find anything that'll fit a longish pro lens like a 24-70 f/2.8 (or 70-200 f/2.8) mounted on a camera and not be photo-centric - you're asking too much.
