"Mama, don't let your sons grow up to be photographers," at least according to Wall Street Journal's Best and Worst Jobs 2010. Says the WSJ, "The 200 best and worst jobs in the U.S. in 2009 were based on five criteria -- environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress -- according to a newly released study from job site CareerCast.com.".
Of course things could be worse: you want to be a photojournalist. That ranks #189. Ten slots below "Roofer." This is why I became a blogger too. Oh wait, "Blogger" didn't even make the list. Oh my...
While being a photographer may rank #126 out of 200, it's probably one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs out there don't you think?
Thanks for the pointer...some interesting jobs made that list.
Well, for those of us who wouldn't do anything else for a living, there's no comparison to any other job.
Hey, looks like I'm at #15!
I look at photography in a similar manner to how I view gardening (another hobby of mine). Many people already do it just because it's enjoyable - if it paid well then almost EVERYONE would want it as a job (seriously, if I could make an adequate living as a gardener I'd do it in a heartbeat).
It's still higher than what I do for a living, so I guess it could always be worse!
I have to wonder about some of the listings though. Museum Curator? Archaeologist? Roustabout?
Arbeit Macht Man Frei - Well, if that's the case, an Actuary should be a real freebird.
Very good post. Thanks for sharing.
