The crew over at Imaging-Resource.com took an informal poll of their personal favorite cameras of 2010. Since they test dozens of models annually, they have a good feel for how things stack up.
Leading contenders included the Nikon D7000 16.2MP Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCDand the Canon PowerShot S95 10 MP Compact with 3.0-Inch LCD. You can see their entire list by visiting Staff Picks for Best Camera of 2010.
The only camera on the list that could be considered one of the best is the Pentax Optio W90. It's good, waterproof and sturdy, I found it didn't even break after I dropped it a few times.
On the other hand, how could anyone pick the Panasonic Lumix LX5 as a favorite? the cam is full of bugs and doesn't work half the time. I had to send it back for fixing many times.

As always, Olympus seems to be passed by with their best products, like the Olympus E5, which gets rave reviews.
I'm testing the E5 now, and will be reviewing it for TDS and Macworld. You're right, it's a very good camera!
